Part of my #SummerDreaming Tree series. This piece is inspired by daydreaming through winter lockdown with thoughts of a British summer….Blossom, leaves, sun faded colours…imagined trees in dreamscapes of colour. Afternoon Trees is the fifth in the series and depicts a row of very late summer trees, their foliage rusting and turning orange. The sky a deep turquoise blue of late afternoon with an orange light from the low sun spreading a glow across the dried grassland. The work is made on a rust dyed and hand painted vintage linen napkin, which is appliqued then hand embroidered.
The textile piece measures approximately 15 x 15 cm and is float mounted onto off white mountboard.
The frame is white painted wood box frame with glass and measures 25.5 x 25.5 cm. The frame has a D ring for easy wall hanging and also a stand for displaying on a shelf or table.
