From my #100daysnearstrethall series. This piece was inspired by the farm buildings at Strethall Hall Farm and Freewood Farm at Elmedon in Essex and the countryside surrounding the farms. The work is a fabric collage of rusted, eco-dyed, painted and printed repurposed linen stitched onto a vintage linen tray cloth. The fabrics are painted and then hand stitched by way of exploring the surfaces and colours of the barn and the Hedge Garlic ( Jack-by-the hedge) growing in the lanes on the edge of the local woodland.
The textile piece measures approximately 48 x 32 cm and is mounted onto foamboard ready to be float mounted onto mountboard and framed.
